About Racil Chalhoub

Born in Beirut, raised in Paris designer Racil Chalhoub is a true internationalist who now calls London her home.

It was as young girl that she first discovered her love of fashion, influenced by the chic city of lights and by her mother’s immaculate style. 

Instinctively knowing that she would one day found her own label, Racil went onto study Fashion Design and Marketing in London at the American University.

Her creative and entrepreneurial spirit saw her return to Beirut in 2006 to open a unique fashion concept store and organic cafe, nested in an authentic Lebanese house in the artsy district of Gemmayze; it was the first of its kind in the region. Thus starting her career in fashion as a buyer for 8 years, Racil closely observed what women want from a wardrobe and learnt about their shopping patterns. During this period, Racil was inspired by the potential of the tuxedo and became fascinated by its versatility and the subtle language of tailoring. The idea of Le Smoking remained with her and in 2015 she launched her eponymous brand, RACIL, setting up a studio in Notting Hill, London.

About RACIL – The Brand

RACIL is a London based brand set up by designer Racil Chalhoub in 2015. It’s focus and ‘tour de force’ is the Tuxedo or Le Smoking – an item of clothing that Racil first fell in love with while living in Paris as a young girl.

She named the brand after her mother whose innate elegance left an indelible impression upon her style imagination. 

Racil launched her debut collection in Paris, which comprised of 15 pieces centred on variations of Le Smoking that could be worn separately or together depending on the occasion. This was the designer’s introduction to her own world of ‘Le Smoking’. A feminine world where elegance is first and foremost an attitude, and where modern and personal style convey a cosmopolitan soul.

Every season a new chapter evolves, and Racil tells a different story. Playfully re inventing ‘Le Smoking’, the collections have now grown to include dresses, tops and accessories, yet always keeping the brand’s DNA at heart.

The designer enjoys collaborating with a ‘family’ of inspirational muses, stylists and photographers to capture the look and attitude of each season.

Every collection is created to be worn in a multitude of ways and suits the life of the RACIL woman, chic, nonchalant and versatile, from day to night and night to day.  The brand’s loyal following come to rely on the playful dress up and down magic of the RACIL tuxedo.
